For almost ten days now we’ve wanted to explore a neighborhood just three blocks south. There’s the cutest Par 3 Golf Course which is total fun to play (and hosts Happy Hour golf afternoons). And, there’s so much more.  Ten days has past.  Why can’t we just walk Out The Door?

Grab our Clunker bike or put on walking shoes and leash up Louis and leave for some adventure…right out my door. Easy?

*Perhaps you sense that there’s not much to see.  Not true.

*You like to have an agenda, a reason for going somewhere. Could be.

Ok then… when going somewhere new it’s definitely possible to come up with at least one objective, one place.  Read enough about the neighborhood to know one place you want to visit. That’s all the motivation you’ll need.

*The weather isn’t cooperating. Bring your umbrella!  Or head out later in the evening when the sun has begun to set. Or start your day in a new place and go early ahead of the heat, before work even, and grab a smoothie or coffee or even breakfast!

*You’re too busy. Really?

It’s summer. The days are long. This is the time to insert your own desires into the day (you are worth it).

Responsibilities will always take-over like dandelions spreading in the yard, monopolizing the sun and rain and all of the attention.

Walking The Horizon means tipping the scales towards more fun…for you (and your friends, neighbors and family).

*You need to feel productive. Adding your own wishes to the day feels especially fruitful.

*You’re feeling lazy. We’re not sure what to say. Maybe a nap is in order (on a hammock or chaise long outside- it’s still Out The Door).

Oh, to be outside. Wandering.

No agenda

No objectives

Nothing except a sense of adventure and presence in your chosen place.

Please be aware that sometimes mind-wandering accompanies your ambling. We spend almost 50% of our time letting thoughts go where they might go. Sometimes what you ruminate about is not positive. Let your mind relax and notice while carefully discerning what’s true in the moment. Be kind and enjoy the freedom.

Just Go…Out The Door….

To Walk The Horizon, Out The Door, consider the following questions:

-Where is a place nearby you have meant to go for a long time? No plane ticket required.

-What place might inspire you for a visit?

-Is there a restaurant, roof top bar, ice cream store you’ve wanted to try?
