Where To?  This is a common question at the start of a new year; although it’s often easier to ask the question than answer it. Shortly after the year begins, however, with the twists and turns of our lives, we shift to reminding ourselves that “Life Is a Journey”, both allegorically and literally.

Where To? What do you hope for on this year’s journey?  What matters to you most?  Keep your yearnings front and center and you’ll begin to actualize those dreams.

Where To? Where do you want to go? Our Globe Getaways email has already been full of requests from people planning their annual adventures, pilgrimages and journeys. Travelling engages our senses and informs who we are in the world and want to become.  The world is full of beautiful, inspiring, interesting teachers waiting to be met.

When we travel we’re more open and ready to engage with those different than us.  Conversations come easily. Consider how many times we’ve interacted with that random stranger when checking in for a flight.  We share more than we would with our neighbor! Or learned about a barista’s life on a Panamanian coffee plantation while inhaling a fresh cup. There’s also the conversation with a NYC cab driver struggling to assimilate and pay the bills of a new lifestyle. … so many available encounters, local and global, to teach us.

We have our everyday journeys and actual trips. Why separate the two?

Here are a few ways to approach 2018 in full travel mode whether connecting with others locally or travelling to a distant land:

  • Establish a morning routine (five to thirty minutes) for reflection and observation, however that looks for you. Always include a review of your dreams as well as an intention for the day.
  • Be patient. The answers don’t have to be so literal and achievement-based. Experiencing any “ah ha” moment represents progress.
  • Stay kind to yourself and others and be deliberate about good deeds.

Everyday we have the opportunity to engage with life’s possibilities. If we bring a traveler’s mindset of openness, wonder and trust, we’ll garner answers on our “Where To?” journey.

Whether across the table or around the world, facilitating conversation with A Table In Time or booking a trip with Globe Getaways, we’re here to help you on the full journey. Contact us to learn more.

Wishing you safe and happy travels, especially in 2018,

Amy
